Just a little fun I had using Picnik. If you haven't ever tried their photo-editing service, it's pretty easy - and free!

Differences

Some have asked, and probably others have wondered, how is Wyatt different from Lila (as a baby)? I think maybe they are more different than they are similar. Here are some of the differences that spring to mind:

Wyatt's cry is a tolerable-sounding, low, whiny cry. Lila's cry was a high-pitched shriek that could shatter glass. For those of you who heard it, you know I'm not exaggerating.

However, Wyatt is 10 times as stubborn as Lila was I believe. Which means if he is mad about something, he will cry, and cry, and cry... and cry. Lila would cry herself to sleep after 15 minutes. Not Wyatt.

When he's not mad about something, Wyatt is way more smiley than Lila ever was. Lila was happy; she just didn't smile as much. Nor did she laugh. We've gotten several laughs from Wyatt already.

Wyatt isn't sitting up yet which Lila could do at 6 months (see my previous post). However, when Lila started scooting, she would only scoot backwards. In the past couple of days, Wyatt has started to scoot forwards (sort of doing the army crawl). Maybe he will crawl before he sits?

Lila was sleeping through the night at 6 weeks. Like 8 or 9 hours, folks. Yes, we didn't know how good we had it. Wyatt just started doing that in the past two weeks. And even still, he will sometimes wake up once in the middle of the night and take 10-15 minutes to cry himself back to sleep.

And last, Lila was a fantastic eater. Almost from her first bite of solid food, she opened her mouth as wide as she could get it for the next bite. Wyatt's first "bite" of food was followed by the cutest little baby grimace you've ever seen. I'm surprised he didn't spit it out that's how disgusted he looked. (Of course, it WAS rice cereal which is pretty tasteless.) Since then we've tried oatmeal cereal and sweet potatoes. He's doing a lot better with the sweet potatoes but he still wants to be done after maybe ten bites. And no wide open mouth either.

So there you go.

Six Months

Here are my six month comparison shots. Obviously, the biggest difference is that Lila could sit up at 6 months and Wyatt hasn't mastered that skill yet. He has two bottom teeth that are coming in, and his hair is starting to lighten in color (hard to tell in the photos but I think his hair will eventually go blond like Lila's hair did.) Other big difference: Wyatt weighs 17 lbs. 10 oz. and Lila weighed 14 lbs. 13 oz.

Texas Bluebonnets

One of the great things about Texas are the bluebonnets that bloom every year. Driving home from my sister's house one day, I passed a large field of them. So yesterday, we went back there to take some pictures.

Daddy with the two kiddos.

Lila loved walking through all the flowers!

I finally got her to sit down for a picture.

With a little help from Ben, Wyatt sat for a few minutes to investigate the flowers too.

No, he didn't fall over. We thought he might like being on his tummy but apparently not.

He also didn't like the strong breeze. This was the best shot I could get of the two of them together.

But once the wind died down a little, I was able to get a picture with Wyatt. Lila didn't care about the wind, but she didn't like sitting still for very long.

13 Things...

I have seen this done on other blogs and thought it was a cute idea: write 13 things this picture makes you think of. And since 13 is a good number for us (see Ben's blog), I thought I'd try it with this picture.

1. In a two year-old's mind, you can never have enough toys. Lila would have brought him every toy in the bin if I hadn't stopped her.
2. When I look at this picture, I see a glimpse of all the good times ahead for these two.
3. Wyatt didn't care at all about the toys; he was so delighted that Lila was right next to him talking to him!
4. Lila can't get enough of his toys... apparently things you haven't seen in awhile (we had the baby toys in the attic) are very fascinating.
5. Lila has started trying to help calm him down when he gets fussy. She will make funny noises or say his name loudly to get his attention. Sometimes it doesn't work but it usually does.
6. She is so proud when she can help out, with his fussing, or getting a diaper, or trying to put his socks on his feet (no success on that one yet!)
7. In another six months, I think their hair will be the same color.
8. This is one of the rare times that Wyatt has his arms out in front of him. Usually he likes them back by his sides in the "skydiver" pose.
9. The onesie he is wearing is 9 mo. size. He's not yet (almost) six months!
10. Even though there are a couple teether toys in the bunch, Wyatt's preferred "teething ring" is a finger... either ours or his own. His bottom right tooth has broken through and any day now his bottom left should make an appearance. We don't think it will be long before we see the top two either.
11. Lila got her first tooth at six months.
12. I am amazed that you can't see more toys or other stuff on the floor. This room is usually not that clean!
13. I am excited for when Wyatt is a little bit older and they can actually PLAY together!

Some Brotherly, Sisterly Love

It's so fun to watch Wyatt watch Lila. He loves to watch her - such huge grins!

Things That Make Me Chuckle

I thought I'd share a few pictures of things that made me chuckle in the past couple weeks - things that made me go get the camera!

Lila told me she was going to "go get dressed in something pretty." This is what she came back in: navy blue socks, red skort, and long-sleeve brown onesie (you can't see the snaps - they were folded under but she hadn't snapped them - oh, and the shirt was on backwards.)

Don't you wish you could be this flexible? (Ben gets the credit for these pictures)

When I told Lila it was time to get out of the tub and she needed to drain the water, this is how I found her: the water was drained out of the tub but she was squeezed into this plastic bin with some water in there. She is so clever, always keeping me on my toes!

One day when I went to get Lila up from her nap, she was sound asleep but hanging halfway out of her bed. Like she fell asleep while climbing up there with a toy or something (which really could be what she was doing!)

TI Easter Eggstravaganza

Last weekend we took Lila (and Wyatt) to the T.I. Easter Eggstravaganza which consisted of an egg "hunt", face painting, stickers, cookie decorating and more. Unfortunately, it was COLD... but Lila still had fun and most activities were inside. We did this right before Ben left to go to the airport - and on to Germany for six days. He comes back tomorrow, and I am excited to have him back. It really hasn't been too bad flying solo with two kids, except for the fact that I am averaging about 4-5 hours of sleep at night thanks to my son. Anyway, here are some pictures from the event:

Where could the eggs be? They had the kids divided up by age. We didn't stick around to see the older kids; maybe they just scattered the eggs for them too. There really wasn't places to hide them anyway.

Waiting for them to say "go". It was so cold!

At first Lila seemed in shock and was slow to pick up the eggs but pretty soon she was snapping them up as fast as she could. Then we went inside to do some of the other activities such as...

Face Painting
Lila chose to have Easter eggs and the Easter bunny

Cookie decorating (it was a BIG cookie!)

Here she is ready to leave - with her face painted, tootsie pop flower and basket full of eggs. It was fun! Thanks T.I. for providing some free entertainment for us!
