Great Giggles

I realize I've posted quite a few videos lately, but I couldn't resist posting another one, taken today. You can see and hear how much Wyatt giggles when he's tickled. He is really ticklish too... gets that from his Daddy I think.

What a happy boy we have.

Riding the Rails

Last week we took our first "family vacation" - where we got away just the four of us. We took an Amtrak train from Ft. Worth to Oklahoma City, stayed a day in downtown and then took the train back home. It was fun, and our kids were just the right age: Lila was old enough to sit and color. Wyatt was young enough he wasn't running around yet.

Waiting in the Fort Worth Amtrak station to board the train.

Lila enjoyed coloring. We discovered that the lady who worked in the snack car was named Lila! She was on duty for both of our rides and made a big deal out of Lila sharing her name. She even gave us her nametag as a souvenir!

Our train got in at 9 at night. The station was one block from our hotel, so we had a short walk. We barely missed the torrent of rain that came down a few minutes later... tornado sirens even went off! The next day was nice though. We let Lila watch a video on Ben's computer in the hotel while we were getting ready.

We walked a couple blocks to the Myriad Botannical Garden. It had some pretty fountains.

It also had a bridge that Lila was scared to cross - she stopped and covered her eyes!

In the afternoon, we came back to the hotel and swam in the pool.

Then that evening we walked a block in the other direction to Bricktown to eat supper... and found some more fountains to play in!

The train to go home left at 8:30 in the morning.

We brought Wyatt's car seat along in case he fell asleep, but he really enjoyed getting to sit with us. All in all, it was a great trip and just the right length (not sure we could do two nights in the hotel!) :)

Put on a Happy Face

Last night we had chocolate pudding for dessert. I made the pudding using the Tupperware Quick Shake container... it has a little flower-like insert that Lila likes to lick when I'm done. I wanted to get a picture of her face covered with pudding, but what I ended up getting was so much more:

Here she is holding the plastic flower insert with her teeth.

This is the face she made after she accidentally dropped it and then saw our dog start to lick it. "Mommy, we have to get down and get it away from Maggie."

This is the face she made when I told her she wasn't going to get it back.

But eventually, she recovered. Eventually.

Laughing

This video was taken several weeks ago. I finally got it off the camera. Wyatt is very ticklish, so we can make him laugh easily. But Lila is the one who gets him to laugh all on his own. Here she is doing "peek-a-boo".

Singing the ABCs

The Lord's Prayer... the Abbreviated Version

Lila actually knows most of the Lord's Prayer, but her favorite part is the end... so sometimes she just skips right to it!

On the Farm

My mother and grandmother came for a visit the first week of May. While they were here, we went to the Heritage Farmstead Museum. They had a children's tour that included a story about Farmer Duck who had to do all the chores on the farm. Then we toured the farm and learned about various chores such as: picking apples, churning butter, picking up kindling, beating rugs, gathering eggs, feeding chickens, doing laundry, planting the garden and ironing clothes. It cost $6 for Lila and $3 for me. She really enjoyed it! The farm also had some real animals - sheep, goats, chickens and mules.

First they made a mask to use during the story time.

Cousins Visit

I am so behind with my blog, but thought I'd share a few pictures from a recent family visit in April. Ben's brother and his family came and stayed with us for a few days. We really enjoyed having them here and the kiddos enjoyed getting to play with their cousins. They have a daughter 3 months older than Lila and a son 5 months older than Wyatt. Usually Lila doesn't want anything in her hair, but occasionally she will ask for a ponytail "like Rachel" (especially if Aunt Pam does her hair!)

Playing at a playground.

Seven Months

No weight this month, so I will share a few things that we have been up to developmentally. Still no sitting! He is better... he can sit for maybe 10 seconds before toppling. Maybe. In Lila's picture it looks like she is supporting herself, but she is actually about to pull off her socks. She could sit without support by 7 months. Oh well, each child is unique. Wyatt is able to get up on his arms and knees and scoot around. Is it possible he will crawl before he sits?? Guess we'll see. He is starting to eat better. Basically, he doesn't like cereal: rice or oatmeal. He makes a face and gags - even when I try to mix it in with peaches or applesauce (which he likes). I mean, he'll eat green beans without making that face... so I've stopped trying to push the cereal.

His hair is really starting to fill in; I don't know if you can tell in the pictures. I think he may end up with thicker hair than Lila. It has continued to lighten color, though, just like hers. And he is very ticklish which is a lot of fun. Here are the comparison shots: Wyatt first, followed by Lila, followed by the two of them together. They really do get along well right now.
