Look alike?

Several have asked me if Wyatt looks like Lila when she was born. The answer... you decide.

Lila, 6 days old

Wyatt, 6 days old

Big Sister, Little Brother

Things are going pretty well with Lila and Wyatt. She likes to "pet him" on the head, give him his pacifier (even when he's sleeping), and give us a running commentary on what he's doing (he's crying, he's talking, he's poopy!) Occasionally she also wants to hold him too. It is clear she is very taken with him... hopefully that will continue! :-)

This is a lucky shot I captured when I had the camera on Wyatt, and he gave us one of those sleepy newborn smiles that last a second.

Taking Care of My Baby

Some great friends of ours gave us a doll set (stroller, car seat and pack-n-play) that their daughter had outgrown. We gave them to Lila when we brought Wyatt home. She has had so much fun taking care of her baby the way we take care of Wyatt... especially using the pack-n-play as we have that set up in our bedroom for Wyatt. Here are some pictures of Lila changing her baby's diaper.

More Pics of Wyatt

Hi all, we are home now. I thought I'd post a few more pictures we've taken in the past 2 days. We are doing well, other than being a little sore :) and a little sleepy (ok, Wyatt is a lot sleepy!)

Lila helping Wyatt with his pacifier.

Lila taking a picture of her baby brother (on her toy camera that she brought along to the hospital).

A rare shot with eyes open.

Not too happy about the car seat at first.

Lila took her "baby" home too, along with a balloon the hospital gave us.

Wyatt Edward Amey

Wyatt Edward Amey is here.  He arrived on the scene quite healthy at 4:29am today.

He was 8lbs 1oz and 21.5 inches.

We went to the hospital last night around 7:45pm, and things progressed smoothly from there. Colette and Wyatt are both doing well.  Colette is resting at the hospital, and Ben is back at home to be with Lila when she wakes up.   Ben will take Lila to visit mommy and baby brother a little later in the day.  Pictures to come after lunch.

Amey Update

Just wanted to share a little update for those of you who read this blog. We went to the State Fair of Texas on Monday (see pictures below). Both Ben and Janina took the day off, so we had a great time and avoided the big crowds. We are very close to Baby Boy's arrival... could be tomorrow, could be a couple weeks still. I am trying to take one day at a time and still do things, but I'm definitely slower these days! :) Will keep you posted...

Little Hands on the Farm

Far and away the thing I most enjoyed about the State Fair this year was taking Lila through the "Little Hands on the Farm" exhibit. It was so cute!! She started out by putting on an apron and getting a basket. Then as we walked along the path and through the barns, she had different farm tasks to complete.
First up was putting some corn feed in a bag to take along and feed the animals.

Next she "watered" the peach trees before harvesting 1 peach and putting it in her basket.

She got to feed the chickens (none of the animals were real) and then put an egg in her basket.

They had "seeds" (little wood discs with different pictures of vegetables on them). She picked her seed of choice, then had to find the appropriate row to plant it.

Then next to that garden patch, she had to pick the veggie that she had planted. (The veggies weren't real either, but so cute!)

Quick pause for a picture...

Driving a tractor to take some feed out to the "pasture" (with Aunt Janina's help... Ben had volunteered to stay with the stroller, which wasn't allowed in the exhibit).

At the end, Lila took all of her harvest to "market" and was paid $1 (again, not real) for her offerings. I didn't post pictures of everything, but she had in her basket: a peach, an egg, a carrot, a milk carton (she was a little scared of the fake milk cow), and some wool.

Then she got to go to the General Store where she could buy a treat (granola bars or crackers) for - yep, you guessed it - $1.00! I thought this was such a cute idea, and it was FREE. I hope they bring it back next year, as I am sure she will enjoy it even more when she is older!

The Children's Barnyard

The State Fair had a petting zoo area that was free and had all the typical barnyard type animals (goats, sheep, pigs, cow, etc.) but they also had some zoo animals (giraffe, zebra, ostrich, deer, bison). We started with the goats. Lila really liked the baby goats. But then a couple big goats stuck their heads out of the bars, trying to get the food, and after that, she wanted to be held to see the rest of the animals.

Petting the baby goat.

Looking at the pigs from a safe distance (notice her clenched fist).

She wouldn't even look at the giraffe, just hung on for dear life!

Children's Museum

With your State Fair admission, you could purchase discounted tickets ($1) to the Museum of Nature and Science, which has a children's museum. We took advantage of the air-conditioned building and enjoyed some of the exhibits too! Since we went on a Monday, there was hardly anyone in the museum so Lila got to enjoy all the fun activities.

In the "Explore Your Backyard" exhibit, Lila got to dress like a ladybug.

Driving a "fire truck".

Standing by a funny mirror.

Playing in the water trough area... they had a bunch of rubber duckies!

Making really big bubbles!

State Fair Rides

At the end of our day Ben and Lila rode the carousel, and then Ben rode a couple rides to use up the last of our tickets (which was how you paid for everything at the fair).
