Little Hands on the Farm

Far and away the thing I most enjoyed about the State Fair this year was taking Lila through the "Little Hands on the Farm" exhibit. It was so cute!! She started out by putting on an apron and getting a basket. Then as we walked along the path and through the barns, she had different farm tasks to complete.
First up was putting some corn feed in a bag to take along and feed the animals.

Next she "watered" the peach trees before harvesting 1 peach and putting it in her basket.

She got to feed the chickens (none of the animals were real) and then put an egg in her basket.

They had "seeds" (little wood discs with different pictures of vegetables on them). She picked her seed of choice, then had to find the appropriate row to plant it.

Then next to that garden patch, she had to pick the veggie that she had planted. (The veggies weren't real either, but so cute!)

Quick pause for a picture...

Driving a tractor to take some feed out to the "pasture" (with Aunt Janina's help... Ben had volunteered to stay with the stroller, which wasn't allowed in the exhibit).

At the end, Lila took all of her harvest to "market" and was paid $1 (again, not real) for her offerings. I didn't post pictures of everything, but she had in her basket: a peach, an egg, a carrot, a milk carton (she was a little scared of the fake milk cow), and some wool.

Then she got to go to the General Store where she could buy a treat (granola bars or crackers) for - yep, you guessed it - $1.00! I thought this was such a cute idea, and it was FREE. I hope they bring it back next year, as I am sure she will enjoy it even more when she is older!
