Beating the Heat

This summer has been HOT. Lila even said the other day: "Mom, I don't like summer. It's too hot." Well, besides staying inside as much as possible during the day, here are some activities we've done to try and beat the heat.

Swimming Lessons!
This was her first day of lessons. She was excited to start. Last year she took lessons in the Natatorium during the morning, but this year she took them in the evening. Evening lessons are at a nearby outdoor pool. I'm not sure which was hotter - being outside at 7 p.m. or inside the warm, humid Natatorium at 10 a.m. The good thing about Ford Pool was it had a little playground next to it that Wyatt could play on while Lila had her lesson. Much better than having to sit and watch!!

Here's Lila gliding underwater with her instructor, Miss Ally.

Here she is demonstrating to me how she can go all the way under the water!

We also tried to stay cool in the backyard with our little inflatable pool and a SPRINKLER!

I thought they would enjoy running through the sprinkler, but no. They both wanted to try and catch the water!

Watering cans, plastic jugs... I think they tried everything they could find!

Then Lila wanted an umbrella. I thought she was missing the whole point of the sprinkler, but I humored her anyway.

Using a larger watering can :)

Piper hung out with Daddy on the porch swing.

Another way to beat the heat: POPSICLES.

Lila had grape. It was yummy!

Next up: swimming at Aunt Janina's!
Wyatt loves to play in the shallow end with buckets and watering cans.

Lila likes to swim in the 3 ft. end with her trusty turtle.

Piper was relaxing in the stroller watching us all.

Her willingness to sit here so sweetly only lasted one trip. The next time around she fussed until I brought her into the pool too. She loved it of course! I can't blame her. I wouldn't want to sit and watch either.
